Increasing numbers of Motorhomers and Caravaners are choosing to mount their new 12v TV on a bracket. Work top space in your Motorhome / Caravan is limited and therefore using a VESA mounting bracket can give you more work space and flexibility. However you should take into account the following points before making the descision to put your 12v TV on a bracket:
A/ The furniture in Motorhomes and Caravans has good structural integrity but the wood used is of a different weight and density of that used in a house. This and the vibration whilst travelling to your campsite means that screws are not advised as they will invariably come loose causing potentially a significant amount of damage to your furniture and of course the TV. You should try to site the TV bracket in a location such as a wardrobe wall where you can gain access to the opposite side enabling nuts and bolts to be used with a metal plate to spread the load.
B/ If your prefered location for the TV bracket is some distance from the manufacturers original TV point, please ensure that you can get cable runs (Aerial, 12v power, mains power) to your prefered location. If you need to instal a new 12v power socket for your Television you should use as short a run of 12v power cable as possible. It should also be of a thick guage to avoid voltage drop and we recommend that an appropriate fuse be incorporated at the battery end. C/ With thousands of different VESA mounting brackets to choose from you should take into account that if you choose a bracket with a reasonable amount of movement, you may need to add a restraining strap or consider removing the TV whilst travelling. The Vision 2000 brackets have been made specifically for Motorhomes and consequently they incorporate a locking mechanism for safe travelling.
