AVTEX 12 Volt TV / DVD Combi's
Motorhome TV are Official Avtex Dealers and stock the most popular models of Avtex 12v TV's and a comprehensive range of Genuine Avtex Accessories. The 19" Widescreen W193D All in One has become very popular as more of us want a decent size screen in our Motorhomes and Caravans especially when used to a large screen TV at home.
The W193D is available with a Mirror Gloss Black cabinet and a White finish. The W193D is the state of the art 12v/230v TV/DVD Player for the Motorhome Market. It uses the highest grade available LCD screen and is High Definition Ready with two HDMI (High Definition Multi-media Interface) sockets should you wish to connect HD sources like Freesat HD, SKY HD or a Blueray Disc Player. There is also a generous array of other sockets for none HD external sources.
One of the Avtex W193D All in One's best features is the Avtex Quick Tune (AQT) system. This allows either of the Digital Freeview or the Analogue Tuners to be Tuned at the press of a single button. In addition the W193D has MHEG5 so having search for Digital channels with a single button the TV will automatically sort the channels out for you placing BBC 1 on memory No. 1, ITV 1 on memory No. 3 etc. The inclusion of MHEG5 also allows access to interactive services and Digital Text. Whilst this is accepted as the norm in modern domestic TV's, it is still quite rare in a 12v Motorhome TV.
The Avtex W153D is thier most popular 12v TV/DVD model with a 15" screen and again available in Mirror Black or White finishes. The W153D All in 1 has the same high spec as the bigger W193D but does not have the HDMI sockets. The smallest 12v TV/DVD from Avtex is the W102D 7 in 1. The W102D is an amazing compact Multi-media device. Watch Digital Freeview TV, Analogue TV, a DVD, listen to an Audio CD, MP3, review your Digital Photos etc.etc. The W102D can be powered from either of the supplied regulated power supplies, 12v DC and 230v AC mains. There is also available as an optional accessory a clip-on re-chargeable battery pack. This makes it truely versatile, we've used a W102D with a battery pack on the passenger deck of a ferry and in the bedroom converted to a home gym (I'll say it before anyone else does - we don't use it as much as we should, the gym that is not the TV).
Other Avtex models available are the W150T and the W102T .
These models are high quality 12 volt TV's without a built-in DVD player, the W150T is a 15" model and the W102T a 10" Widescreen set. Both the W150T and W102T are produced in a Silver finish and both can be operated from your 12v leisure battery or from 230v mains.
It is very tempting to compare specialist 12v LCD TV's designed for Motorhomes, Caravans and Boats to standard domestic ones. The first think to bear in mind is that the LCD screen itself is made in different qualities, usually four. Manufacters like Avtex use the highest grade of screen available. By doing this they can offer a guarantee that you will not have a missing pixel or one stuck on a particular colour. They also have better viewing angles, we find this particularly important in Caravans and Motorhomes because we and everybody we know sit on either side of the 'van both looking at the TV at 45 degrees or more. The high quality ones also have more powerful backlights making them watchable on a summers evening especially if positioned next to a window(s). The cheaper ones can be acceptable in a dark environment but hardly watchable in high ambient light. Then of course there is the other electronic components, the software to put the picture on to the screen and the build quality bearing mind your purchase will be subject to a considerable amount of vibration and harshness keeping moving it around from one campsite to another and back home again. One of the biggest misconceptions with LCD TV's is tha they work from a transformer and therefore people think they can connect a domestic set to a leisure 12v battery. This is not the case, many years ago a little black box onthe outside of a piece of electrical equipment was invariably a transformer, the modern LCD TV however has an off board "Regulated Power Supply" giving a steady smooth 12v DC. Whilst we quote vehicle battery systems as 12v this a very nominal figure. Afully charged battery should have a terminal voltage of 12.7v and whilst being charged can go as high as 14.4v. If you use a domestic TV connected directly to a battery system you can permanently damage the TV and potentially worse in extreme circumstances start an electrical fire. Fire is dangerous at any time but especially so in Motorhomes and Caravans with LPG gas cylinders etc and limited routes of escape.
