With the older analogue TV Broadcasts it is possible to erect an aerial, do a search on your 12v TV and then adjust the aerial to improve the reception. Due to Digital Freeview Broadcasts being a lot weaker than Analogue, more directional and there being no grey areas, it is a perfect picture or none, we have been searching for in-line signal strength meters to help you align the aerial on your Motorhome.
There are now a reasonable number of TV signal finders aimed at the domestic market. Many of the cheaper ones are basic satellite meters that have been converted and imported from China. We have been using the British designed and made Fringe Electronics ones. There are several in the range, the most popular ones are the £29.95 UHF TV Signal Finder and the £39.95 PRO TV & SAT Signal Finder. Many people think the difference is that the PRO can also be used for aligning a Satellite Dish but in actual fact it is also more sensitive when used for aligning your directional aerial. We would recommend the standard finder if you regularly camp in good to fair reception areas and the PRO if you regularly go to poor reception areas.
